Well friends, we’ve made it to 2012! After a slightly anti-climatic NYE (which involved M and I flopped down on the hotel bed at 11:30 instead of downstairs with the rest of the world listening to Third Eye Blind), I’m settling in to the new year and anxiously awaiting a much better year than 2011. I ended the year with visits to family in Philadelphia that reminded me how blessed I am to have cousins that I share such a special relationship with. They sweeten my soul and remind me of how precious family is. What a wonderful way to end 2011.
But now we’re racing into the new year, and as much as I’m NOT looking forward to waking up for work tomorrow, I am eagerly anticipating settling back into somewhat of a calmer routine. December was such a rush of car trips, holiday parties, eating, gifting, sleeping and rejoicing. I loved every moment of the holiday season, but I’m ready for a little peace and quiet. In addition, I’ve put together a little list of what I guess I should call resolutions for 2012. I’ve never been a resolution-maker, so I’m trying to think of them more as guidelines for a happier, healthier and more peaceful year. Here goes:
1. Drink more water. And take more vitamins.
2. Go to the gym in the morning.
3. Maintain a positive attitude, especially at work.
4. Find time for myself, even if it’s just a few moments each day. And even if it means passing up on happy hour or an errand or working late. Use this time to read, pray, reflect, write, be calm.
5. Cook for myself and for friends.
6. Stick to my budget. Forgo new boots. Limit eating lunch out to once per week. This one might be the hardest.
So that’s it. Just a short list of goals to work on this year. So now I’m off to the grocery store to get working on #5. Wishing all of you a very happy 2012!
To sticking to our resolutions,
Lia
