Just as soon as I think I’ve gotten back on track with
blogging, I go two weeks without updating. Hardly consistent. Luckily, I don’t
think anyone is reading this too religiously, so I think I might be the only
one missing the chronicling of the past fourteen days.
Anyway, to give you a quick update: Last weekend we were in
Harrisburg celebrating the wedding of one of M’s high school/college friends.
His wife was so beautiful, and I just love celebrating springs weddings. It
seems like everything is new and pretty and green. I’m sure her pictures turned
out wonderfully. As an unexpected surprise, we headed over to Hershey on Sunday
and checked out Chocolate World as well as some outlet shopping. I think M was
shocked to see that I can get so competitive about shopping. For someone who
hates sports and all other forms of personal competition, I get super
aggressive hunting through sale racks for our sizes or clinching that one last
parking spot outside Starbucks.
The weekend before, my sweet cousins came to visit me in DC.
I absolutely loved seeing them and showing them around my city. We walked and
talked and ate and looked at flowers and drank cocktails. It was perfectly fun
and relaxing with them was the perfect way to unwind after several really stressful
weeks.
This week is shaping up to be just as crazy. I’m heading
down to Atlanta toward the end of the week for some work meetings and then
flying to Pittsburgh on Friday for Father’s Day weekend. As an aside: My dad is
in Bellefonte covering the Sandusky trail this week, and I’ve become oddly
obsessed with it. I know that Penn Staters across the country are saddened and
horrified and shocked by what has been brought to light over the past year, and
I’m certainly part of that group. But, the trial just seems so big and real and
substantial in a sleepy little town outside of State College that I can’t help
but read every news story and follow Daily Collegian reporters on Twitter. I’m
so saddened for the victims of this horrific situation, but I hope that this
trail brings them the peace and closure and justice they deserve.
Anyway, from Pittsburgh, I’m heading to Chicago next week
for another round of client meetings. I’m so excited to catch up with some of
my old co-workers and just enjoy their company in one of the best cities in the
country.
Until then, I’m trying to catch up on laundry and dirty
dishes and pack for my weeklong trip. I’m also watching some silly TV on ABC
Family because the summer TV schedule just plain sucks. Any new show
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
To work trips and Father’s Day weekend,
Lia
